STANDING ON THE CORNER IN WINSLOW ARIZONA: This 15” x 10” jigsaw puzzle was inspired by a
verse in TAKE IT EASY, a popular Eagles song written
by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey and commemorated by
the City of Winslow Arizona with life-size bronze
statues of Browne and Frey, and a mural on the wall
behind the statues of a storefront with the
reflection of a red flatbed Ford driven by a
blonde-haired woman. The puzzle image is a photo of
the iconic corner in Winslow Arizona, located on
historic Route 66 – a must see travel destination
for all Eagles fans.

Here's a little more
info on the song and corner that inspired this puzzle... |
|
"Take It Easy" is the popular song written by
Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey, and recorded by the
Eagles with Frey singing lead vocals. It was the band's
first single, and has become one of their signature
songs. It is listed as one of The Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. Browne
originally began writing "Take It Easy" but had
difficulty finishing the song. Browne played the
unfinished second verse that begins with "Well, I'm a-standin'
on a corner in Winslow, Arizona...", and Frey finished
the verse in spectacular fashion with "Such a fine sight
to see. It's a girl, my lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowin'
down to take a look at me.” Browne was very happy with
the result and the song became the first track on the
Eagles' debut album and was released as their first
single in 1972. According to Frey, the second verse of
"Take It Easy" refers to a time when Browne was stranded
for a day in Winslow, Arizona while on his way to
Sedona. In
1999, the city of Winslow erected a life-size bronze
statue of Browne and a mural to commemorate the song.
The mural on the wall behind the statue is that
of a storefront, and includes the reflection of a red
flatbed pickup truck driven by a blonde-haired woman. A
life-sized statue of Frey was added in 2016 to honor his
songwriting contributions to “Take It Easy”.
This famous corner in Winslow Arizona and red
flatbed Ford is commemorated in our Standing On The
Corner wooden jigsaw puzzle.
